WEATHER RELATED SITUATIONS
Along with the weather, come occasional school cancellations, delays and early dismissals. Our policies for these weather-related situations are:
- Cancellations – If the Charles City public school cancels classes prior to their morning starting time, we do too. We will announce it on our local radio station KCHA (95.9 FM and 1580 AM), on our Facebook page, and through the REMIND app. (Example – CC schools announce at 7:00 a.m. that school is cancelled for the day. That means we will cancel for the day.)
- Delays – If the public school’s starting time is delayed up to 1½ hours, we will still hold class at our regular starting time. It will be up to you to decide whether to bring your child at that time. (Example – CC schools announce school is delayed 1½ hours. We will start school at our regular time.) If the public school is delayed 2 hours or more, we will cancel our morning class. We will announce the cancellation on KCHA, on our Facebook page, and through the REMIND app. (Example – CC schools announce school is delayed 2 hours. We will not have morning class, but will have afternoon class.)
- Early Dismissals – If the dismissal announcement occurs prior to 12:00 p.m., we will cancel our afternoon class. We will announce the cancellation on KCHA, on our Facebook page, and through the REMIND app. (Example – CC schools announce at 11:50 a.m. that school will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. We will then cancel our afternoon class.) If the dismissal announcement occurs after 12:00 p.m., we will remain in session. (Example – CC schools announce at 12:15 p.m. that school will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. We will be here until our regular dismissal time, but, of course, you are free to decide whether to pick up your child early or not depending on your situation.)
Our announcements will be made on 95.9 KCHA, on our Facebook page, and through the REMIND app. Please tune in to 95.9 to listen to St. John Christian Preschool specific announcements.
